Ralph the mouse was terrified. All he had wanted to do was ride the little motorcycle someone had left on the table. Instead, both Ralph and the motorcycle had taken a terrible fall - right into the bottom of the wastepaper basket. He was trapped, left to wait for whatever fate was in store for him.

One might know that if Beverly Cleary were to invent a mouse, it would be a down-to-earth, boyish mouse with a proclivity for getting into scrapes. A good story!--Chicago Tribune --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Ok, it's a story I read a long time ago but it's still a good one. It's funny and pacy with lots of opportunities for discussion. Good quality used copy.

When I was an 8 year old at the end of the seventies I had a brilliant teacher who was passionate about story telling. She used to put a great deal of colour & drama into her stories and of all of the books she read us that year, this was the most fun.Every child imbues their toys with life and vitality through imagination and dreams, and it's a familiar device in childrens' fiction. What's so memorable about this book's use of this concept, however, is it's huge sense of fun.The central themes are not overdone for the younger listener/reader: being small and wondrous of your surroundings is certainly a subject that all children will find resonant. More than this though, it's the exhiliration of the story, the joy of speed and adventure, and the unshakeable central friendship of the boy and the mouse that ensures this book is one that will be cared about.Learning to overcome your fears and thriving on friendship is a great subject for discussion as a family. This book is a blast- particulalrly as a read-aloud. Even for the short attention span: there are numerous cliff-hangers to keep kids holding on for the next instalment.Give it a whirl.

This was a gift and arrived to the recipient swiftly. She was very appreciative as she particularly wanted a book about a mouse's adventures !

My 9 year old really loved this book. He is requesting more books by the same author, it's a shame she only wrote a few.
